Описание: The Students’ Union Silver Jubilee Memorial Football Tournament 2026 was inaugurated at the Public Ground, Peshu, marking 25 years of sporting excellence under the theme “United in Silver Triumph.”
A major highlight of this historic Silver Jubilee edition is the record ₹1 lakh cash prize for the champion team, reflecting the remarkable growth of the tournament since its inception in 1999, when the winners received just ₹1,200.
The programme began with the dedication of the Jubilee Monolith and flag hoisting, followed by the formal inaugural ceremony. The event was graced by Shri S. Keoshu Yimkhiung, Hon’ble MLA & Advisor, Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland, and Chairman DPDB Shamator, as the Opening Guest, and Shri Benei M. Lamthiu, Hon’ble MLA, Government of Nagaland, General Secretary of the Nagaland Football Association, and Chairman of the Governing Body NSL, as the Guest of Honor.
The inaugural programme featured an opening display chaired by Mr. Tsongtsa Khiamniungan, invocation by Pastor Munow, a welcome address by Pupou S. Meyo, President, PSU & Convener, Planning Board, along with cultural and special performances.
Leaders and organizers emphasized that the increase in prize money from ₹1,200 to ₹1 lakh symbolizes the collective efforts of the Students’ Union, well-wishers, and the community in promoting youth engagement and competitive football over the past 25 years.
The Silver Jubilee Tournament 2026 promises intense competition and greater participation, making it a landmark chapter in the history of Students’ Union football.
