on a cold winter’s day,
Trapped in a snowstorm, far from the bay.
My feet are like ice, my nose is bright red,
But in my mind, I’m in LA instead.
I close my eyes, and there’s sand on the street,
Palm trees are swayin’, no snow on my feet.
The breeze is so warm, the sky's ocean blue,
I'm tanning by noon—if only it were true!
But here I am, bundled up to my chin,
Dreaming of places where winter won’t win.
The cars all honk in this frost-covered town,
But I’m hearing waves as the sun’s going down.
I’m stuck in this sweater, but my soul's out west,
Where sun-soaked days are simply the best.
Flip-flops and sunsets, now that's the life,
Not scraping the ice with a snow-covered knife!
Until I’m there, I’ll keep on schemin’,
Because today, I’m just California dreamin’.
