The Horne ILTDU facilitates quick and easy thermal disinfection of outlet fittings (taps and showers, including thermostatic mixing valves) using the readily available hot water supply. This aids in the control of retrograde and waterborne pathogens such as Pseudomonas and Legionella in healthcare, sport and Leisure, education and prison accommodations - in fact, anywhere where there is a duty of care to users of the facility.
These pathogens inhabit the biofilm that naturally forms on the internal pipe surfaces, and Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, a retrograde contaminant, is known to favour the last 2 meters before the tap, shower or TMV.
Periodic thermal disinfection of outlet fittings should be combined with high velocity flushing of the pipework, which helps to remove excess biofilm - higher shear forces slough off the excess growth and remove it to drain, further improving water quality.
