During YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's visit to meet former minister Seediri Appalaraju, who is lodged in the Srikakulam District Jail, YSRCP supporters allegedly organized rallies in violation of police regulations, causing massive traffic congestion. While Burja Police Station SI M. Pravalika was regulating traffic, Amadalavalasa YSRCP constituency coordinator Chintada Ravikumar and some of his supporters allegedly surrounded her, pushed her, and physically assaulted her. After the incident, Ravikumar reportedly switched off his phone and went into hiding. However, he later released a video explaining his version of events. In the video, he claimed that the SI had been serving in his constituency and had recently been suffering from health issues. According to him, he approached her only to say, "Your health is not good, and the crowd is growing. Please move away from here," and that they were merely trying to escort her to a safer place. He further claimed that people gathered there began raising slogans, causing the SI to cover her ears. Ravikumar alleged that despite this, police booked him under multiple sections, including attempt to murder, assault on a woman, criminal conspiracy, and obstructing a public servant from performing official duties. The alleged attack on the woman police officer has been taken very seriously by the State Home Department and senior police officials. Police have registered several non-bailable charges against 21 accused persons, including Ravikumar, such as attempt to murder, assault on a woman, and obstructing a public servant in the discharge of official duties. According to officials, one of the accused, Boddepalli Srinu (A2), was previously involved in a businessman kidnapping case, while Annepu Krishna (A4) had earlier been booked for objectionable comments on social media. Authorities also stated that several other accused have prior criminal records involving property damage and violent incidents. Special police teams have been formed to trace and arrest Ravikumar and the remaining absconding accused. Meanwhile, Government Whip Koona Ravikumar questioned how the accused came to know the exact legal sections under which the case had been registered even before the details were officially uploaded to the police website. He alleged that the information had been leaked by alleged YSRCP sympathizers within the Superintendent of Police's office. On the other hand, Palasa MLA Gouthu Sirisha visited SI Pravalika at the Burja Police Station to express her support and encourage her. She assured the officer that she would bring the matter to the government's attention and seek strict action against those responsible for the alleged attack.
