Trains at Perth Station & Perth Underground

Описание: In this video we visit Perth Station and the adjacent Perth Underground station to do some trainspotting. Perth station & Perth Underground are at the heart of Perth's rail network. Operated under the Transperth branding; Perth's rail network spans 290km of track across 8 different railway lines with 85 stations. The network had 61.9 million annual passengers in 2024-25.

We start the video at Perth Station which is served by the Airport, Armadale, Ellenbrook, Fremantle, Midland, and the Thornlie-Cockburn lines, although as this video was filmed in October 2022 we don't see any Airport or Ellenbrook line trains. We see Transperth A Series EMU's which are the oldest in the fleet, and the B Series EMU's which are the backbone of the network.

Perth station opened on the 1st March 1881 as part of the Eastern Railway from Fremantle to Guilford, although the current iconic main station building was completed in 1894; designed by George Temple-Poole in the Victorian Free Classical style. The station has been expanded numerous times over the years. One of the most significant took place around 1988 when the current steel roof and the Cityplace complex was built over the station (just prior to the electrification of the network in 1991 and the opening of the Joondalup Line in 1992). Another upgrade took place in 2013 as part of the Perth City Link project which saw a new pedestrian underpass built to link all platforms to Perth Underground station.

We then head to Perth Underground station which is served by the Mandurah and Yanchep lines; which together form the main north-south rail corridor which spans the length of Perth from top to bottom. The station opened on the 15th October 2007 and was built as part of construction of the Manurah Line. Here we see some B Series EMU's arrive and depart the station.
