Barbara Luna was born in 1937 in Manhattan, New York. She came from a mixed ethnic background from various European countries such as Hungary, Italy, and Spain as well as having a father from the Philippines. This led to her exotic look and made her draw the attention of film and TV producers alike.

Barbara Luna began her career as a theater actress and began working in film and television as she got older. Some of her earliest film roles became huge hits including The Devil At 4 O’Clock, Tank Battalion, Ship of Fools, and The Concrete Jungle.

But her big break came when she was cast in the popular TV series Star Trek. She had a guest appearance in the second season of the show in an episode called ‘Mirror, Mirror’ in which she played Lt. Marlena Moreau – who became one of the most famous one-off characters from the show.
