🗓️ Today I’m through the flare and finally feeling more like myself. Instead of diving straight into busy social activities, I decided to focus on managing my allostatic load — the total stress placed on the body by things like sound, light, activity, and emotional strain.
I had the chance to go out with family and do a bunch of things in town — not necessarily fun ones, but still a day full of stimulation and potential stressors. Instead, I chose to stay home and work in the garden. I paced myself: mow a lawn, rest; clip a hedge, rest; mow another lawn, rest again.
By spreading activity out and wearing ear protection to reduce noise stress, I was able to stay productive without overloading my system on the first day back from a flare.
