Eager to get home after a long day of scouting, two weary riders encounter a California Highway Patrol the wrong way. Passing over the double-yellow deposited them directly behind a CHP cruiser. One rider got spooked and made an emergency U-turn, the other followed.
Almost to the 236 intersection, they back tracked 7 miles and took Bear Creek Road instead.
