Pandit Rabindra Goswami (sitar) and Ramu Pandit (tabla) perform at the Karuna Center for Yoga & Healing Arts (Northampton, MA) on July 5, 2012. Both musicians have been playing professionally for more than 40 years, have toured extensively in India and the United States, and are recognized as some of the most senior artists in the musically rich city of Banaras, India.
The musicians perform an exquisite version of Raga Smriti, a rarely heard work. After the introductory alap, there are two compositions in a 16 beat cycle, one slow and one fast, and then a fast jhala.
This concert took place at the Karuna Center for Yoga & Healing Arts in Northampton, MA on July 5, 2012. It was arranged by Andy Rotman for Jugar Productions, and was generously supported by South Asian Studies at Smith College.
