Our first meet up for LLSC 2025 / 2026 took place on 12th November in Glasgow. Our guest speaker for the evening was Angus Pinkerton—a well-known figure in the world of free flying. Angus has been deeply involved in hang gliding and paragliding for decades, including 30 years as Chairman of the BHPA Flying and Safety Committee. He’s been an instructor, constructor, competition pilot, record holder, and long-time champion of flying safety and innovation.
Angus gave a fascinating talk on the history of hang gliding — how it began in Scotland in 1895, how it’s evolved, and some of the characters and moments that shaped the sport we love today. Expect plenty of insights, some laughs, and maybe a few stories that haven’t been told in a while!
