Made over 2,200 years ago, this relief appliqué is attributed to Hellenistic Greece. It is made of bronze with copper inlays and depicts a female sea figure, interpreted as either a Tritoness or Scylla, with seaweed garments, finned gills, and webbed ears. It measures 22.4 × 24.5 × 7.8 cm (8 13/16 × 9 5/8 × 3 1/16 in).
This artifact is now housed at the Cleveland Museum of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. It was acquired in 1985 through the Leonard C. Hanna Jr. Fund, having previously been in a Swiss private collection since about 1975.
