Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the West Asia crisis has led to a sharp rise in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices, increasing from Rs 60 per litre in March to Rs 142 per litre in May 2026, impacting the aviation sector. He said the government had earlier capped ATF prices at Rs 75.6 per litre for domestic operations to protect passengers, but rising costs affected oil marketing companies, prompting the creation of a self-sustaining ATF Price Stabilisation Fund. He added that the scheme aims to provide stable fuel pricing to airlines, with a reimbursement mechanism after the crisis. The Cabinet also approved Rs 10,000 crore support for OMCs, a scheme to replace old vehicles in NCR to reduce pollution, and multiple infrastructure projects including highway upgrades in Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and a new coastal highway project.
