Part 1: This video begins a front and rear shock replacement with a walkthrough inspection and plan evaluation.
I start by outlining the original approach, which included using standard external spring compressors. That plan is reassessed later in the process, but this video focuses on the initial teardown and investigation.
In this part, I:
-Perform a visual and functional inspection of the suspension
-Remove the driver-side front strut assembly
-Disconnect the sway bar entirely and shift it forward
-Identify the source of a squeaking sway bar
-Disconnect the tie-rod using a scissor-style ball joint removal tool
-Document hardware access, fastener condition, and component behavior
This part is primarily observational and investigative, setting the stage for the changes in approach that follow in Part 2.
