Hello Operators.
On today's episode of OH8STN Ham Radio we discuss a man portable ham radio camping trip, off grid in Lapland. The trip was designed to test battery & solar power capabilities with PowerFilm Solar panels, DIY solar generator, and the Yaesu FT-891. It was also designed to help understand the feasibility of man portable deployment with current hungry QRO radio equipment like the Yaesu FT-891.

Field testing man portable assets is critical our understanding of energy efficient off-grid or grid down communications. expertise in the field. This portable ham radio station uses a diy LiFePO4 generator and PowerFilm panels, for portable power in the field. This video takes us to Southern Lapland where I will be setting up my off grid ham radio station, the 10 amp hour LiFePO4 pack we build on the channel, and powering it all with the PowerFilm Solar FM16-7200, thin film solar panel. .

The goal of this man portable trip, is understanding the practical considerations for deploying a man portable ham radio station, for 3 days.
