In the far north of Northamptonshire sits an unassuming mound which has been there for nearly a thousand years.
Fotheringhay castle was the birthplace of kings, dukes and duchesses and the place where Mary Queen of Scots was executed.
Little remains of the castle these days, but it's a beautiful, peaceful place and well worth a visit.
