India EU free trade agreement: Tariffs on European-made cars imported into India would progressively come down from 110% to 10%. However, industry insiders say cars might not actually get as cheap as the tariff structure suggests.
Mother of All Deals 🇮🇳🫂🇪🇺 Context: On 27 January 2026, India and the European Union concluded and politically signed the India–EU Free Trade Agreement, widely described as the “Mother of all Deals,” marking a major geopolitical and economic shift. The EU chose deep trade integration with India despite strong US pressure. Scott Bessent openly criticised Europe, saying the US imposed a 25 percent tariff on India and “sacrificed,” but the EU refused to align and instead went ahead with the FTA, weakening American leverage. A voice recording of US Senator Ted Cruz was leaked in which he said that Donald Trump, JD Vance, and Peter Navarro were the key figures who opposed an India–US trade deal. This reveals a deeper concern under Trump that India is growing too fast, could become the next China, and would eventually force the US to share global power with both China and India
