Today is the official start of our New Zealand road trip and our first stop is to the Krangahake Gorge for an amazing morning walk. Karangaheke gorge is located at the base of the Coromandel Pensinsula, about a 1.5 hour drive from Auckland. There are plenty of great walks in the area, but from my point of view the Windows walk is the very best. From here you get framed views into the mining sites and the sparkling river below. There are even some glowworms, so keep an eye out for them. Our next stop was of course to a waterfall and we decided to go to the beautiful Wairwir Falls. Wairere Falls, the highest waterfall in New Zealand's North Island, plunges 153 metres in two steps over the Kaimai escarpment The waterfall is located between Te Aroha and Matamata. Besides being a beautiful waterfall the walk to the lookout is spectacular with many round boulders covered in moss along the path. To cap off the night we decided to hike up an extinct volcano near Tauranga. Mount Maunganui is an amazing place to take in the sights and enjoy your day. While we were walking to the top of the mount we were we watched people paragliding from the top of the mountain and cute little sheep frolicking on the hillside.

We discovered our passion for traveling, beginning with our destination wedding in Jamaica in 2007. This year we decided to leave everything behind with a goal of traveling to 30 countries.
