Описание: Contrary to popular belief, demons don’t really have a significant role within biblical scripture. In fact, beyond a few appearances of the devil, the closest thing we get to ‘demonic’ is probably the gods of pagans. Yet, the idea that there were insidious spirits lurking in the real world has persisted since mediaeval times, where succubi, cambion and hellish monsters working for Satan have plagued not only the imaginations of men, but also manifested into core beliefs. This was especially true in the 15th and 16th centuries where communities had what they believed to be actual proof of demonic activity - that which was conducted by witches. It comes as no surprise then that much of the ideas we have about demons were once published by witch hunters and the inquisition - most notably, the likes of Heinrich Kramer in the Hammer of Witches, which not only became a manual of how to identify witches, but also something of a testament that demons were real and did have powers.
