Governor acted contrary to the Constitution, says Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin

Описание: The DMK, along with like-minded political parties in the country, would undertake efforts to advocate for a Constitutional amendment to do away with the practice of the first Assembly session of the year commencing with the customary Governor’s address to the House, DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said on Tuesday (January 20, 2026).

Earlier, the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution moved by Mr. Stalin which did not accept the action of the Governor in not reading out his customary address to the House. The resolution also said that the speech sent to the Governor (text of which was uploaded in the tablets given for members) would be considered as having been read out.
