Choco Butternut Pandesal
Hi lovelies~! Here's another pandesal recipe for y'all to try at home! Since the ube cheese pandesal craze started, I've seen people do this choco butternut flavor but I wasn't sure if I wanted to try it myself. But since I've gotten a few requests to make it, here's my take on the Choco Butternut Pandesal ♥ I want to thank those who requested for this. I honestly wasn't sure about this but I really enjoyed the end product! Also, my dad was gushing over it so it's a validation that it was a success :D
How to Make Choco Butternut Pandesal
Yields: 12 pcs. of pandesal
Preheated Oven: 185°C (365°F)
Bake Time: 15 minutes
INGREDIENTS:

~Butternut Toppings~
84 g (1 cup) DESICCATED COCONUT, FINE
*If you can't find finely shredded desiccated coconut, use a food processor to make them (desiccated coconut) smaller
60 g (1/2 cup) CONFECTIONER'S SUGAR
*Confectioner's sugar is just a fancy term for icing sugar and powdered sugar. Those three are the same thing, just in case you didn't know :)
55 g (1/4 cup) BUTTER, MELTED
ORANGE FOOD COLORING

~Chocolate Pandesal~
1 large EGG
153 g (1/2 cup) CONDENSED MILK, SWEETENED
118 ml (1/2 cup) MILK, LUKEWARM (34°-38°C / 93°-100°F)
*You can use whole milk or evaporated milk
5 ml (1 tsp) VANILLA EXTRACT
55 g (1/4 cup) UNSALTED BUTTER, MELTED
6 g (2 tsp) INSTANT DRY YEAST
*If you're using Active Dry Yeast, use the same amount as stated in the ingredients. Dissolve the Active Dry Yeast and Sugar in lukewarm Milk first. Leave it for 5 - 10 minutes or until the yeast foams up or activated. Add the Egg, Vanilla Extract, Unsalted Butter and whisk it in. Then proceed with the rest of the dry ingredients.
360 g (3 cups) + additional for kneading ALL PURPOSE FLOUR / BREAD FLOUR
*Use a scale to weigh your flour but if you're using measuring cups, DO NOT scoop flour from the container using your measuring cup. Use a spoon to scoop the flour into your measuring cup and use a knife or any straight object to level the flour across the measuring cup.
25 g (1/4 cup) COCOA POWDER, UNSWEETENED
2 g (1/4 tsp) SALT
30 ml (2 tbsp) VEGETABLE OIL
CHOCOLATE, OPTIONAL (but highly recommended lol)
*Knead 5-8 minutes using an Electric Stand Mixer
*Knead 10-12 minutes by hand (a.k.a. non stop arm workout)
*Add flour (just a little at a time!) if your dough is sticky
*Dough should feel smooth and elastic. It shouldn't be dry but it shouldn't be wet either.
1st Rise: 2 - 3 hours
Proof: 45 minutes - 1 hour
