PRAYER AND POSITIVITY REQUEST - today has arrived.
ZEI ENTERS SURGERY THIS MORNING AT 0800 for decannulation from ecmo life support with transition to complete ventilator support. She has trialed off ecmo oxygenation support for the past 48 hours, was clamped from Ecmo blood flow today (to assess her heart’s response to the change in flow) for one hour, and stood to the side of the bed while clamped off and coughing. She held strong. For so long we’ve had Ecmo as our back-up. Once our survival, then our ‘just in case’. We found space for constant companionship through the Ecmo team. And while the ventilator cannot bring the same level of support as ecmo - it can support Zei’s life. Allowing more time to heal. Heel, toe, heel, toe...HEAL!! I feel a thousand emotions tied up in hope as my heavy eyelids pull me away from this page and into slumber, heart so grateful. So much love. #tacosandtears Praise the Lord! Namaste.
