Welcome back to Archive Deep Dive where my vacation videos of the past have been re-edited for the present. In this episode, let's take a look at an extremely short lived variation of the Hershey's Chocolate Tour ride at Hershey's Chocolate World in Pennsylvania.
This mid-90's version of the ride features Hershey's Kiss ready greet you at the original Hershey's factory building. The little guy followed you throughout the experience. The ride finale is, in my opinion, the best version we ever got. The room itself was the same as before, with the iconic "Great American Chocolate Bar" song playing throughout. This is the only version, however, to have animatronic figures of the characters in their then-current designs from artist, Lance Dietrich. The characters had limited movement, and they would be replaced (after a slight re-design) in the following iteration of the ride with a wall mural as opposed to physical figures.
This is also the only footage I've seen of the animatronic dinosaurs in Hershey's "Jungle" area. These were a promotion for "The Lost World: Jurassic Park." I should have some photos of these that I can post if anyone is interested, as I only have a few seconds of one dino.
Finally, the last part of this video shows the entrance to Sesame Place in Lancaster, PA. The character footprints on display have since been removed.
