Описание: Nuclear Assault. The 2 words together to many may spell the reality we all face of a second cold war, or far worse, fear of global doom via mutually assured destruction. To the forever 15 year old in my head, Nuclear Assault was very much the sonic ringleader of my teenage years. It was the era where thrash metal is all I wanted to hear and NA did it so amazingly well. They had their own sound. They blended an East coast cynicism/humor with social, political and environmental topics that clearly found inspiration from their inclusion in the NYC metal and hardcore scene. Danny Lilker, excommunicated from Anthrax, found a new outlet of aggression to pour his great bass playing and songwriting skills into, formed this vibrant quartet that sounded nothing like his previous band and in many ways, was even more aggressive and "fun". Glen Evans was the relentless pounder and amazing skinsman that colored the bands speedy thrash identity with elements of rock. Anthony Bramante was the chaotic shredder and riff merchant that ignited these often short tracks with fire. And of course NA wouldn't have been what they were without the gloriously tortured voice, bluesy/frantic by way of punk rock playing style of John Connelly to truly set this band apart from their contemporaries.

It was the perfect line-up that carried the band through 4 full-length albums before splintering. Survive is the 2nd album from Nuclear Assault that found them progressing sonically and even though they didn't change stylistically that much, they certainly refined their skills a bit to move the ball forward.
