My brother-in-law made me a chopping board shaped like a violin for Christmas (made out of a piece of stair tread) …… couldn’t resist the temptation to stick a neck on it and create an electric dulcimer!
All the music on the video is improvised in E B B tuning and played through a Roland Cube (jazz setting!)
The CAT is called Nellie.
The first instrument I ever built was a ‘stick’ dulcimer. I was about 15 and made it out of me mam’s clothes’ prop following the weekly instructions shown on a Sunday morning TV show hosted by John Pearse.
I still have the book supporting the programme.
Decimalisation was about to happen and the book contains a shopping list for tools in both old and new money.
