Mojtaba Khamenei is 56 years old, born in 1969 in Mashhad, Iran, and studied Islamic theology in the seminaries of Qom. Over the years, he remained mostly behind the scenes but played an influential role inside the leadership structure. He was widely known for managing political and security affairs in his father’s office and helping coordinate access to the Supreme Leader.
He is also believed to have strong connections with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Basij forces, which are key security institutions in Iran. These connections increased his influence in Iran’s political system and helped shape his role in major political developments over the past two decades.
