Although the shutter speed selector only has speeds from 8s to 1/500s it's actually possible to take long exposures - providing you have the right lens.
The shutter is inside the lens, and is closed by the camera via an interlock on the mount when the selected shutter duration expires. However, a pin on the underside of some lenses allows you to disable this and close the shutter manually. Although not technically a bulb mode this allows the use of ND filters and such when shooting the SQ, something people might not have thought possible!
