Given the recent streaming release of his fantastic new film Hit Man (which should have gotten a longer theatrical release), I thought it'd be the right time to make a tribute to the artistic genius that is Richard Linklater. His significant influence on independent cinema is still widely felt to this day, and his ability to imbue seemingly any kind of genre with his signature levity, memorable needle drops, stylistic experimentation, and brilliantly written conversations is commendable. Few filmmakers out there make movies that feel so genuinely naturalistic and perceptive. This tribute is divided into four chapters:
1.) Accumulation of Moments (set to the tune of “The Best Summer of My Life” by Graham Reynolds) - 0:00-2:22
2.) Reckless Abandon (set to the tune of “Sweet Emotion” by Aerosmith) - 2:22-4:13
3.) Days of Jazz and Nights of Theater (set to the tune of “The Music Goes ‘Round And Around” by Tommy Dorsey & his Clambake Seven) - 4:14-5:49
4.) Ephemeral Existence (set to the tune of “Do You Realize??” by the Flaming Lips) - 5:50-9:22
