Información turí­stica de Puerto Saavedra
Puerto Saavedra es el principal centro urbano de la comuna de Saavedra, en la IX Región de la Araucaní­a. El lugar, que en mapudungún significa “la melodí­a del rí­o cuando suena†, está ubicado justo frente a la desembocadura del Imperial. Además, aquí­ confluyen las aguas del océano Pací­fico, lago Budi y el rí­o antes mencionado.

La ciudad fue fundada junto al mar en 1887 por Cornelio Saavedra. Sin embargo, el maremoto de 1960 arrasó con la localidad, que más tarde debió reconstruirse detrás de las dunas del sector.

De clima templado con influencia oceánica, en Puerto Saavedra las temperaturas oscilan entre los 12 y 25 ºC en época estival. En tanto, hay lluvias durante todo el año, lo que genera la existencia de un ambiente permanentemente húmedo y verde.
