Fares rise on schedule. Metro lines don’t. 🚇💸
BMRCL has introduced an annual automatic fare revision, and from Feb 9, 2026, Namma Metro passengers will pay ₹1 to ₹5 more per trip depending on distance. The hike is capped at 5% as per the Fare Fixation Committee formula.
🚇 Revised Fare Slabs
• 0–2 km: ₹10 → ₹11
• 2–4 km: ₹20 → ₹21
• 4–6 km: ₹30 → ₹32
• 6–8 km: ₹40 → ₹42
• 8–10 km: ₹50 → ₹53
• 10–15 km: ₹60 → ₹63
• 15–20 km: ₹70 → ₹74
• 20–25 km: ₹80 → ₹84
• 25–30 km: ₹90 → ₹95
• Above 30 km: ₹90 → ₹95
Namma Metro currently operates across 96 km, and while the increase is described as “marginal,” commuters highlight a bigger issue — fares are now set to rise regularly, even as several metro corridors continue to face construction delays and shifting deadlines.
For daily passengers, this is not just about a few rupees. It’s about paying more every year for a system that is still under expansion, with key routes yet to open. When project timelines stretch, the financial burden on commuters grows too.
Public transport is meant to ease urban travel — but for many Bengalureans, the cost of commuting is rising faster than the network itself.
