Following the transition to digital audio and discovering it was a bit more complicated than just plugging in an XLR cable, over the last 20 years more and more IT equipment has been brought into the world of sound engineering. Amazing channel counts and system flexibility can now be achieved. How can sound engineers keep up without spending months re-training and how can we speak confidently and knowledgeably to IT engineers?
Join this session to discover what you need to know about audio networking: how to get started, understand what’s going on, learn some tips and best practice. Cable types, network switches, IP addresses, VLANs, protocols and more will be discussed, with plenty of time for Q&A.
Andy Cooper earned his BSc in Music and Electronics from Keele University in 1994 and joined Yamaha R&D Centre, London in 1999, where he has the role of Professional Audio Application Engineering Manager. Andy has become a leading expert in digital mixing systems and audio network design, and has taught sound engineering seminars in more than 45 countries around the world. During the last eight years he has presented over 75 videos on the Yamaha Global YouTube channel - / @yamahaglobal
