##ধারণা করা হয় যে খৃস্টীয় সপ্তম শতাব্দীর শেষ থেকে অষ্টম শতাব্দীর প্রথম ভাগে দেববংশের চতুর্থ রাজা শ্রীভবদেব এ বৌদ্ধ বিহারটি নির্মাণ করেন। শালবন বিহারের ছয়টি নির্মাণ ও পুনর্নির্মাণ পর্বের কথা জানা যায়। খৃস্টীয় অষ্টম শতাব্দীর মধ্যে তৃতীয় পর্যায়ে কেন্দ্রীয় মন্দিরটি নির্মাণ করা হয় ও বিহারটির সার্বিক সংস্কার হয় বলে অনুমান করা হয়। চতুর্থ ও পঞ্চম পর্যায়ের নির্মাণকাজ ও সংস্কার কাজ সম্পন্ন হয় নবম-দশম শতাব্দীতে।

It is believed that Srivavadeva, the fourth king of the Deva dynasty, built this Buddhist monastery from the end of the 7th century AD to the first half of the 8th century AD. There are six phases of construction and reconstruction of Shalban Bihar. The central temple was built in the third phase by the 8th century AD and the overall renovation of the monastery is believed to have taken place. The fourth and fifth stages of construction and renovation work were completed in the ninth-tenth centuries.
