घन कोण एक सामान्य बिंदु में तीन या तीन से अधिक तलों को प्रतिच्छेदित करके निर्मित कोण को मापता है। इसे ओमेगा ( w ) द्वारा दर्शाया जाता है। घन कोण की SI इकाई स्टेरेडियन है। केंद्र पर एक गोले के छोटे क्षेत्रफल द्वारा निर्मित ठोस कोण गोले पर बनाये गए क्षेत्रफल और वर्गाकार त्रिज्या का अनुपात होता है।

The point from which the object is viewed is called the apex of the solid angle, and the object is said to subtend its solid angle at that point.
