SSDI, Social Security disability beneficiaries: major rule change the current administration is talking about changing the Social Security disability program through SSDI benefits which is also formally known as Social Security disability insurance benefits. To determine someone's eligibility for disability benefits through this program, they take many factors into consideration including the age of the potential recipient. However, they are discussing the option to increase the age from 50 to the age of 60 or possibly completely eliminate age as a factor when determining disability eligibility. This would make those individuals aged 50 and over significantly less likely to get disability benefits through Social Security disability insurance because of this rule change.
