I share my love of the 12 meridians of TCM, but my love of the Extraordinary Vessels is even greater because they are even more powerful. The 12 meridians take their energy from the food we eat and the air we breathe. The 8 Extraordinary Vessels take their energy from the egg and the sperm which joined to create us at conception. They are more fundamental than the 12 meridians, which they regulate. They also regulate our life cycles from the womb, through birth, childhood development, puberty, fertility, sexuality, ageing, the menopause and male changes, and eventually our dying process. Since they are connected to these key moments in our life, they can be used to transform our relationship to our past to be able to live more fully in the present. They can help us find peace with past traumas and challenges and feel more at home in our body.
