Dame Zaha Hadid (left), who grew up in Baghdad before moving to London more than four decades ago, died on Thursday morning after being admitted to a Miami hospital earlier this week with bronchitis. Dame Zaha enjoyed a long and successful career, working on buildings including the MAXXI Museum in Italy, the Guangzhou Opera House in China and the London Aquatics Centre. She was forced to hit out at criticism about her design for the 2022 World Cup stadium (right) after some said it looked like a woman’s private parts.
