Val Ridanna (Ridnauntal in German) is a small valley 18 km long in South Tyrol, which starts from Vipiteno, up to Masseria. The main inhabited centers of the valley are Casateia, Telves, Mareta, Ridanna and Masseria, fractions of Racines. The valley is known for the presence of Castel Wolfsthurn near Mareta and for the Provincial Mining Museum, set up near the Masseria, even if historically the area effectively exploited was between the Lazzago valley and the village of San Martino a Monteneve (2,385 m). . Near the museum is the miners' chapel of St. Magdalene in Ridanna.
The idyllic village of Ridnaun / Ridanna with its 850 inhabitants is part of the Three Valleys community of Ratschings / Racines. At an elevation of about 1,340 meters above sea level, Ridnaun / Ridanna is situated in a gentle valley and surrounded by the mountains of the Stubai Alps. Here near the main ridge of the Alps, you can already feel the influence of the mild Mediterranean climate. The fresh, crisp mountain air carries the scent of the South itself. Here you will find relaxation and rest. Here both body and soul can relax and regenerate themselves.
