In the head teacher's first meeting with all staff members and parents, the following concerns were raised: poorly typeset examination papers, inaccurate learners' records, absenteeism among staff members and mysterious disappearance of school property such as furniture and library books.
One of the parents proposed to the head teacher to use ICT to solve most of these problems. The head teacher, however, does not know the ICTs the school needs and how to maintain them in good working conditions all the time.
Task:
Prepare a document that will provide guidance to the head teacher on which ICTs to choose and advise him/her on the measures he/she can take to maintain these ICTs.

Item 2
Joseph established a computer service centre in his home trading centre and employed someone to run the business on his behalf. He was surprised later to discover that some equipment such as the scanner, VGA cables, laptop adaptors and USB cables were missing yet no convincing explanation could be given by his employee. In addition, many devices had got spoilt and could no longer function.
Joseph closed the business and took all the remaining devices home, piling the faulty ones on the table in the sitting room. His wife is concerned about the faulty devices which have congested the sitting room. Joseph needs to avoid similar challenges in future.

Task:
Advise Joseph on how best he could have;
(a) handled the situation at his business to prevent closing of the business.
(b) managed the pile on the table without congesting the sitting room.
Item 3
Joweria works with a community health centre as an office administrator. The health centre receives many patients on a daily basis, which makes her spend sleepless nights on her laptop as she prepares medical documents and reports. As a result, Joweria has started feeling body pains and other health challenges.
Due to limited infrastructure and space, Joweria's office is overcrowded with old non-functional computers and electronic equipment. Joweria needs help on how to handle the health challenges as well as the old non-functional computers and electronic equipment.
Task:
(a) Make a write-up explaining to Joweria how best she can handle her health challenges without leaving her job.
(b) Advise Joweria on the best methods of managing what has overcrowded her office.

Item 4
The Ugandan government conducts a population and household census every 10 years. This activity aims to enable the government to effectively plan for its citizens. In order to enhance data capture for the 2024 census, UBOS implemented the use of tablets and launched a call for online applications for enumerator positions. To qualify, applicants had to possess a valid email address, a typed application letter, copies of their CV and National ID which they had to submit to the UBOS website at https://censusrecruitment.ubos.org. Moses was interested in applying for the job but he lacked the skills of ICT and therefore missed the opportunity. He has approached you for guidance with the copy of the advert below so that he does not miss out on similar opportunities in future.

Task:
Guide Moses on the procedure and the necessary ICTs to use in order to apply for similar opportunities in future.
Item 5
A group of farmers in a certain district has been missing many opportunities which would have helped them improve on their farming methods. Recently, they got news from one of the members about an online farmers' platform which provides current updates from the Ministry of Agriculture on how to improve their skills.
To join the platform, the group must apply online. The application process requires access to an application form on a website, filling it and having all group members sign before submitting it to [email protected]. This has become a challenge to the group members due to their limited experience in using ICTs. You have been approached by the group chairperson for help.

Task:
Prepare a document indicating the appropriate ICTs and steps to be used to help the farmers overcome their challenge.
