Hearing a really good radio play can be like listening to a movie packed into a short running time. Solo Behind the Iron Curtain is a great example, managing to mix history, danger, romance, humour and adventure into just forty-five minutes.
It's a true story (more or less - like most true stories), and radio allows the person to whom it happened to narrate it in person. Robert Vaughn's recollection of his time filming The Bridge at Remagen in Czechoslovakia, centres on his friendship with his guide and interpreter, a young Czech woman named 'Pepsi'.
History is in motion while Vaughn is there, and he gets a chance to taste the Cold War world of his most famous character, Napoleon Solo - the Man from UNCLE...
