A vital lifeline for Ishkoman, the 612-foot Chatorkhand Suspension Bridge connected Dain and Chatorkhand for over 45 years. Built in the 1980s and once among Pakistan’s largest suspension bridges, it withstood decades of harsh weather until August 14, 2025, when torrential rains and devastating floods swept it away. The destruction has cut off nearly 5,000 residents, isolating communities, markets, schools, and emergency services from the rest of the valley.
