Описание: It's Deep Dive Wednesday, and we are continuing our dive into the history of the House of Fabergé! Though it was founded by Gustav Fabergé, and was, by all accounts, a successful business, it really wasn't anything special in the world of jewelry until it was taken over by Gustav's son, Peter Carl, in 1872.

Peter Carl, often known as just Carl, was an immense ancient jewelry nerd. He worked for the Hermitage museum, for free, restoring and cataloging ancient Greek and Scythian treasures, eventually creating nearly identical replicas of some Scythian pieces that would garner the attention of Tsar Alexander III. He is recorded as saying that he could not tell the difference between the original Scythian pieces, and Carl's replicas, which led to a longstanding professional relationship, eventually culminating in a series of beautiful imperial Easter Eggs- the famed Fabergé eggs.
