The Jaén province is becoming an increasingly popular cycling destination. Make no mistake, though, because this area remains untouched by mass tourism, and the entire region exudes authenticity, showcasing its Andalucían charm in full force. Not to mention the impressive vistas and the millions of olive trees that provide much of the world's olive oil. With epic races like the Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior and visits from the Vuelta a España, the wider world is beginning to recognize its appeal.
The main attraction for road cyclists is the brutal Sierra de la Pandera: three steep kilometers with an average gradient in the double digits are enough to classify this climb as one of Spain’s classic ascents. And to me, that moniker is justified.
