The discovery of an extensive network of underground luxury tunnels, allegedly linked to the Assad family, has come to light following raids by Syrian rebel forces.
Footage reportedly taken by the rebels shows a spiralling white staircase leading underground, purportedly beneath a property identified as belonging to Maher al-Assad, brother of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
According to reports, the tunnels are fully equipped with ventilation systems, sitting areas, bedrooms, and secure locking mechanisms, suggesting they were designed as escape routes or fortified shelters.
