The Triathlon Training Tech Struggle: Started the morning battling with SRAM AXS wireless pairing. Despite the troubleshooting, the electronic shifting refused to play ball. After losing significant time and catching a chill standing in the driveway, I made the executive call to pivot.
The Bike: Swapped the modern rig for the trusty old mechanical Boardman Air. A good reminder that cables and housing still get the job done when the chips are down.
The Ride: 4 solid laps of the circuit. Focused on reclaiming the intensity after the frustrating start.
The Run: 2.5 km transition run immediately off the bike.
Key Takeaways
Mechanical Reliability: The Boardman stepped up when the electronics failed. It wasn't the original plan, but the miles still count.
Injury Status: The highlight of the session—the calf felt fine throughout the ride and the run. No tightness or niggles, which is a huge win for the recovery process.
Mental Toughness: Managed to salvage a quality workout despite the cold start and the technical frustration.
