"Don't Get Around Much Anymore" [perfect for these Covid-19 times] is a jazz standard written by Duke Ellington (1899–1974), an American composer, pianist, and leader of a jazz orchestra, which he led from 1923 until his death for more than 60 years. The song was originally entitled "Never No Lament". "Don't Get Around Much Anymore" quickly became a hit after Bob Russell wrote its lyrics in 1942.
This arrangement is by Swedish guitarist Börje Sandquist / @borjesandquist7772 He also did this arrangement of "Georgia on my mind": • Hoagy Carmichael "Georgia on my mind" - P... (sorry for all the errors. I was young and innocent... and hadn't practiced enough... lesson learned!).
Unfortunately these arrangements are not available anymore. I hope some day he will re-publish them.
Guitar: Per Hallgren, 2012, Gråbo, Sweden. (La Rubia)
Lyrics:
Missed the Saturday dance -
Heard they crowded the floor -
Couldn't bear it without you -
Don't get around much anymore!
Though I'd visit the club -
Got as far as the door -
They'd have asked me about you -
Don't get around much anymore! -
Darling, I guess my mind's more at ease -
But nevertheless why stir up memories? -
Been invited on dates -
Might have gone but what for?
Awf'lly diff'rent without you -
Don't get around much anymore!
Be safe!
