In this eighth video of the chess fundamentals series, FM Elliott explains you what it means to achieve a draw or tie. Ties or draws are possible end results in chess and one option to reach it, is when the players agree on a draw. Draws can also appear on the board in situations where both sides do not have enough or the wrong pieces to checkmate the opponent. Those scenarios are called "forced draws". A stalemate is achieved when one side cannot move any of his pieces while the king is not in check. Stalemate is a special case of a draw.
