In this full wire wrapping tutorial I have used:
20mm x 15mm faceted teardrop Amethyst
25cm length of 0.6mm (24 gauge) 925 silver wire
10cm length of 0.6mm 925 silver wire
Mandrel pliers
Wire cutters
Needle nosed pliers
When creating the bail at the top, it needs to come forward enough to sit over the top of your gemstone.
When wrapping the the wire around the front of the gemstone at the end, ensure the wire is around the narrower part of the stone, to keep it secure.

You can use other gemstones, but Amethyst is my personal favourite. You could also use copper as a cheaper alternative, or to do a practice piece first.
