I recorded this video over 4 years ago and never got around to releasing it. This is partly because I found this Genesis adaptation of Sega's cybernetic law enforcement run-and-gun to be really rather dull, and I got side-tracked recording and releasing videos of games I found far more interesting.

ESWAT on the Genesis broadly follows the same plotline as its coin-op counterpart. You start the game as a beat cop tasked with bringing criminals to justice and, through a series of promotions, you're promoted into the elite ranks of the cyber police. Your reward for this is getting to wear the ESWAT cyber-suit armour, replete with automatic machine guns, missiles and other accoutrements. Sadly, these all feel somewhat bland, which is what I could say about the majority of the game.

I guess my biggest issue is that ESWAT was released after Revenge of Shinobi. Both games have similar features, but Shinboi is far more interesting both aesthetically and graphically, and benefits massively from the killer Yuzo Koshiro soundtrack. ESWAT has none of these things, and you can really feel it.

I guess some people out there probably liked this, and I don't mean to hate on it too much, but I just found it boring. It's not a bad game, just one bettered by its contemporaries.
