A complete degree-level production lighting training for those with a passion for the practical side of lighting for performance. You will learn how to work with a lighting designer to specify a system, manage its installation, programme its lighting and video, and maintain that system through to the get out.
Training is based on learning through practical projects, supported by taught sessions on, for example, electricity, control networks, management of health and safety, and computer-aided design (CAD).
As well as more traditional performance lighting, you will also work with video and projection systems, and will be guided and encouraged to explore the latest automated lighting and lighting consoles, LED and other green and emerging technologies.
Projects include lighting for music, event lighting, site-specific work and architectural lighting. There is a strong emphasis on placement learning and many opportunities to broaden your experience beyond traditional theatre roles.
