This mower I bought 2 years ago has recently been giving me issues with the belt coming off and now recently it snapped from rubbing.
Upon countless attempts to rig it up to work I finally bought a few parts to throw at it (links below).
My main conclusion is that I must have lost the deck extension spring while I was cutting like a mad man my back yard. Replacing this spring made the tensioner bracket stiff again and retract properly. I also replaced the the shoulder spacer and deck belt guard.
As soon as I engaged the blades I could just feel that everything was working a lot better.
