Structalath is a specific brand of engineered welded wire lath, not stucco itself; it's a key component used under stucco to provide superior reinforcement, reduce cracking, improve embedment (how well the stucco sticks), and increase installation efficiency compared to traditional lath, acting as the "skeleton" for the stucco finish. Stucco is the final, cement-based plaster finish, while Structalath is the galvanized steel mesh base that gives it strength, flexibility, and durability, often featuring cold-rolled wires and specific furring to help the stucco form a strong, crack-resistant shell.

Structalath (The Reinforcement)
What it is: A brand of galvanized steel welded wire mesh with specific design features like flattened (cold-rolled) wires and furring (built-in standoffs).
Purpose: To create a stronger, more flexible base for stucco, preventing cracks, ensuring uniform plaster thickness, and improving worker productivity.
Key Features: Self-furring (hat channels), no coil memory (easy to handle), welded joints for strength, and designed for easy embedment.
